During the winter months, the short vacations many companies offer over the holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Easter) allow the person a small break from the monotony of the workplace. After a few days off, they return to their job with a renewed commitment to their duties. During the summer months, there are fewer holidays and, other than a family vacation, very little time to spend outside relaxing.
The distraction of nice weather and the desire to spend time relaxing or participating in a favorite hobby can be real problems for individuals who are forced to work inside and under not-so-pleasant circumstances. Companies who offer individuals the ability to adjust their work schedule often see a reduction in work-related injuries.
While these statistics are beneficial, it is important to remember that safety in the workplace should always be a priority.
